The Singapore Gold Lion was minted by the Singapore Mint from 1990 to 2002.
These 1990 (29 year old) coins are truly a rare collector's item.
The Singapore Mint was established in 1968 to mint circulation coins for the newly-independent nation. Over the years, The Singapore Mint has evolved from a basic minting facility to a fully integrated business operation, comprising programme concept, product design, marketing, sales and distribution with after sales service.
Product details:
A common mark often seen on fine Gold bars and coins, is a very small red or reddish-brown spot. These red spots have been explained as tiny specs of Copper (part of the 0.0001 of the item in 0.9999 purity Gold) at the surface reacting with air/sulphur during minting.
The red spots do not affect the value of the bullion products as they have no impact whatsoever on the Gold content.
NOTE: The thumbnail photo of the coins may slightly differ from what you take delivery of. (Coins come in the original Singapore Mint lamination).
