The first $100 gold coin of Malaysia was issued on 30th August 1971 by Bank Negara Malaysia to commemorate the 13 years in office of Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj.
The obverse of this coin has a portrait of Tunku, the words "TUNKU ABDUL RAHMAN PUTRA AL-HAJ BAPA MALAYSIA" and the year 1971. Mintage 100,000 .
The reverse shows the Parliament House building, the crescent and star, and the denomination of 100 Ringgit.
