The front side of the round shows a high relief image of the formidable Trident, son of Neptune (Poseidon), the god of the sea in Greco-Roman mythology. Trident is shown holding the three-pronged weapon that bears his name, ready to strike, as waves crash in the background.

In an interesting choice in minting techniques, the back side of the round shows an indented impression of the Trident image that appears on the front side. This allows each round to fit perfectly on top of one another when stacked, interlocking perfectly with the relief. The weight "1oz" is shown to the right, while the purity ".999 Fine Silver" is inscribed along the top rim.
